S.F. Powell grew up in the Washington DC area, a non-Catholic reared in Catholic schools until college. Her love of poetry and essays transitioned into writing said poetry and essays, and then novels with stories centering on exploring the kinks involved with people relating to people. An accountant who pursues her first love at every available opportunity, she enjoys watching documentaries, indulging in the horror genre, and working puzzles.
